Think of thoughts like signals, not facts.
They are floating around all the time, and your mind just picks up some of them. Kind of like a radio. You don’t create the music, you tune into the station.
Horses do this too.
If a rider shows up calm and patient, the horse often relaxes. If the rider is stressed or rushed, the horse usually mirrors that energy. Nothing was said, but the message was still received.
In The Michelle Method, we talk a lot about awareness.
Your horse is always responding to what you bring into the space. Your breathing. Your focus. Your expectations. This is not magic. It is how nervous systems talk to each other.
When your mind is tuned into fear, pressure, or proving something, your body tightens. The horse feels that and braces. When your mind is tuned into curiosity, safety, and patience, your body softens. The horse follows.
This is why inner work matters.
You do not need to control every thought. You just need to notice what you are tuning into. Over time, you can choose a calmer channel.
When you change what you tune into, your ride changes. Your partnership improves. And outside the barn, your relationships feel easier too.
The same person shows up everywhere.
A grounded rider creates a grounded horse.
A present rider creates a willing partner.
And a calm mind creates a calmer life.
That is the real work.
