First comes awareness.
Then comes presence.
Awareness is noticing what your mind is saying. Presence is what happens when you stop getting pulled into the noise.
Think about riding a horse.
If your head is full of thoughts, instructions, worries, and judgments, you miss what the horse is actually doing. You are riding from your head, not your body. Not the moment.
But when you quiet down and really feel, everything changes.
In The Michelle Method, we teach riders to pay attention to what is happening right now. The swing of the back. The rhythm of the steps. The breath of the horse. When you do this, the ride slows down in a good way. You notice more. You feel more.
This is presence.
Presence is life without constant judging or fixing. It is experiencing things as they are. The sound of hooves on the ground. The feel of the reins in your hands. The warmth of the sun. These simple details suddenly matter.
Even small moments become meaningful.
This is not something the mind can do. The mind wants to label, rush, and analyze. Presence just experiences.
Things like yoga, breathing, meditation, or quiet time with a horse can help you taste this feeling. They show you what is possible. But they are only tools.
The real work happens when you start letting go of old patterns inside yourself.
Just like a horse cannot fully relax if they are holding onto old tension, a rider cannot live in presence while gripping old fears, stories, or roles. That is where inner work comes in.
When you heal what you carry, presence becomes easier. You are not trying to escape your thoughts. You are no longer ruled by them.
Your horse feels this immediately.
A present rider feels safe. A present rider listens. A present rider creates trust.
And outside the barn, life feels fuller too. You notice people more. You appreciate small things. You respond instead of react.
Presence is not something you force.
It is something you allow.
That is the work.
That is the partnership.
